It has turned into yet another frustrating season for the Carolina Panthers with their playoff hopes now trending towards being in limbo.
The Panthers’ struggles over the last couple of weeks have brought questions concerning the long-term future of the franchise. Team owner David Tepper has voiced that he won’t stand for the team being mediocre, according to David Newton of ESPN.

Tepper’s frustration over losing was evident, as he continually said long-term mediocrity would not be accepted. He also said fans, many of whom left the stadium early Sunday, were smart enough to recognize long-term mediocrity.
Tepper also chimed in on Cam Newton’s future with the team, stating that the team hasn’t decided on his fate past the 2019 campaign. There had been reports that the Panthers were considering moving on from the star quarterback that could see them part ways with him.

However, the struggles that Kyle Allen has had in the last couple of weeks may draw some pause from Carolina to move on from Newton. At the same time, there is still plenty of time for Allen to make a strong finish to the season that could see the Panthers contend for the playoffs.
Ultimately, it’s clear that Tepper is ready and willing to make the necessary moves to push the franchise back into being a team that can compete for the playoffs and much more than that. That will likely lead to some difficult decisions ahead of next offseason that could see much change ahead of the Panthers.
