Patriots had ‘elaborate security plan’ to help prevent Josh Gordon from ‘slip-up’
The New England Patriots are now without the services of star wide receiver Josh Gordon for the rest of the season after he took an indefinite leave from the team following a recent slip-up off the field.
This is an issue that the Patriots were well aware could be the case at some point after they acquired him. With that in mind, the Patriots took extra precautionary measures to help prevent this type of situation from occurring, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The New England Patriots had an elaborate security plan in place to try to prevent the exact slip-up that cost wide receiver, Josh Gordon, his season and quite possibly his NFL career, sources told ESPN.
The Patriots assigned people to be with Gordon at all times so that he could avoid the temptations that landed him on the suspended list last week, according to sources.
Sources believe that Gordon somehow eluded New England’s security team during the Patriots’ Nov. 18 bye weekend.
The Patriots did all they could to help provide Gordon with the necessary guidelines and help keep him away from these personal demons. However, it wasn’t enough as it was something that he couldn’t fight the strong temptation
At the same time, these actions by New England showed how much they valued him both on and off the field, both as a player and a person. His personal struggles were something that they were willing to take on and help him navigate through.
Ultimately, this is a matter that only Gordon can truly work toward addressing and taking on any of the help that will be offered around him. It is simply much bigger than the game of football at this point right now.
