Patriots QB Tom Brady doesn’t understand why ‘everyone’ wants him to retire

At 40 years old, superstar quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots is headed into yet another Super Bowl on Sunday with the New England Patriots heavily favored to win it all once again. The five-time Super Bowl champion continues to play at a high level with no signs of slowing down, but people continue to doubt if not hope for his eventual retirement, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

“Why does everyone want me to retire so bad? I don’t get it,” Brady said when asked about Kraft’s comments. “I’m having fun. The team’s doing good. I know I’m a little bit older than most of the other guys, but I’m really enjoying it. I obviously enjoy the experience of playing in this game. This has been obviously a dream come true many times over.

“. . . I’m not thinking about retirement. I’m thinking about the Super Bowl and trying to win the most important game of the year. It’s going to take a lot to do it.”

At this point, there’s no telling when Brady may call it a career. If this season is any indication, he’s shown no reason to throw in the towel as he continues to lead the Patriots as one of the best teams in the NFL and the team to beat in the league.

Along with continuing to play at an extremely high level at his advanced age, Brady is on the cusp of his sixth Super Bowl title which puts him two up on the next in line and there’s a good chance no one catches him.

Although one injury can change everything for Brady, retirement is surprisingly not an option he’s considering. The Philadelphia Eagles will try to dethrone arguably the greatest player to ever play in this league on Sun. Feb. 4 in Minnesota.
