Patriots QB Tom Brady livid over questions about Julian Edelman’s suspension
Earlier this offseason, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was handed a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing policy for the first time in his career.
Due to his involvement with star quarterback Tom Brady’s training regimen over the last couple of years that has drawn some questions about whether that had impacted Edelman’s positive test. In response to that questioning of that possible notion, Brady was quite appalled by it calling it “ridiculous,” according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.
“I have no comment. It is just ridiculous,” Brady said when asked if he felt such a connection was fair because Edelman, in addition to others, trains with Guerrero. “I’m out. See you guys.”
Brady then picked up his helmet and ultimately walked to the team’s locker room, putting an abrupt end to his first remarks since reporting for training camp earlier in the week.
It’s not surprising that Brady would issue this type of strong response given his connection to Guerrero and commitment to the diet and training regimen that he has established him over the years. His reaction was expected given that there has not been any connection with a positive test in the past with any of players that have worked with him.
This isn’t Brady pulling away from his support toward his teammate, but rather distancing himself and Guerrero in any accusation of cheating in any manner.
Ultimately, this may be the last time that Brady will publicly address that given the type of response he chose to give to the question.
