Raiders sign veteran linebacker Devin White
The Las Vegas Raiders added another stout piece to their defense after agreeing to a one-year deal with linebacker Devin White.
The move likely came due to the connection that White holds with Raiders general manager John Spytek and minority owner Tom Brady.
White spent his first five seasons with the Tampa Buccaneers, where he emerged as one of the game’s top linebackers. However, his production and performance dropped toward the end of his tenure, contributing to his departure after the 2023 season.
Last year, he played with the Houston Texans, where he only played in seven games with one start, which saw him post 19 tackles. This came after he was let go by the Philadelphia Eagles several months after inking a one-year, $7.5 million deal with them.
The Raiders are hoping that White can recapture his top form that saw him play a significant factor in the Buccaneers’ push to win the Super Bowl in 2020. In that season, he recorded a career-high 140 tackles along with nine sacks.
He will have the opportunity to latch onto a significant role in Las Vegas under new head coach Pete Carroll. The Raiders are currently thin at the linebacker position, which may lead to him becoming an anchor point on the team’s defensive front.

The Raiders have undergone massive roster changes that include trading for former Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith, whom the team is working on a contract extension.
Meanwhile, the team also agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with star defensive end Maxx Crosby.
