It comes shortly after releasing Brett Rypien, who passed for 130 yards and an interception in the Week 9 loss against the Green Bay Packers. The lack of stable quarterback play behind Stafford has put the Rams’ playoff hopes into a brinker state.
Wentz last played for the Washington Commanders last season, where he recorded 1,755 passing yards with 11 touchdowns to nine interceptions with an 80.2 passer rating. He spent a lone season before that with the Indianapolis Colts, where he notched 3,563 passing yards with 27 touchdown passes and seven interceptions.
He’s produced far from the quarterback that shined as the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. As a result Wentz is now relegated to being a backup and positional insurance in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Stafford’s status for Week 11 action against the Seattle Seahawks as he recovers from a thumb injury. His production has taken a notable dip from his usual levels, recording 2,077 passing yards with eight touchdowns to seven interceptions and an 82.0 passer rating.
Stafford is projected to finish with 3,910 passing yards along with 15 touchdown passes to 13 interceptions.
Head coach Sean McVay has voiced optimism that Stafford will be healthy enough to play against the Seahawks. However, Wentz’s arrival signals that the Rams desire significant stability behind him if he’s unable to play.
