Ravens hire Jesse Minter to be John Harbaugh successor
It didn’t take long for the Baltimore Ravens to find their next head coach after hiring Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.
Minter had spent the last four years as Jim Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator, with the last two seasons coming with the Chargers and the first two at the University of Michigan.
Now he’s set to start his first venture as an NFL head coach.
“I am truly honored to serve as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens,” Minter said in a statement via ESPN. “This is an organization whose values, culture and tradition of excellence reflect everything I believe about the game of football and how it should be played.”
Minter will take over after the Ravens parted ways with John Harbaugh, who was at the helm in Baltimore for 18 seasons, leading the franchise to 12 playoff appearances, a Super Bowl win, and six AFC North division titles.

Minter is the fourth head coach in Ravens’ history and their youngest ever.
“Jesse was impressive throughout our incredibly thorough interview process,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. “He clearly understands the values, high expectations and history of the Ravens, and he has great vision for the future. Jesse’s football acumen is outstanding, and that’s been proven by the impact he’s made throughout his entire coaching career. He’s also a leader who will authentically connect with our players and inspire them to championship levels.”
He will be tasked with helping the Ravens return to Super Bowl contention after falling short in 2025. It will start with star quarterback Lamar Jackson being the focal point of the team’s upward direction.
