Ravens’ John Harbaugh addresses questions on job status
The Baltimore Ravens are heading into Week 17 with their playoff hopes on the fringes, which has led to growing speculation that head coach John Harbaugh’s tenure could be coming to a close.
If the Ravens lose to the Green Bay Packers on Saturday or the Pittsburgh Steelers win on the road against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, it would result in being eliminated from playoff contention.
Despite all that, Harbaugh voiced that his focus has been on the team.
“I try to do the job, not try to keep the job,” Harbaugh said via ESPN. “My focus has been for the last 18 years here and the last 41 years in coaching is to try to do the best job I can today and fight as hard as I can so the guys have the best chance to be successful today. And anything after today, I’m not thinking about because it’s not given for us to think about.”
Harbaugh added, “We don’t have control over that, except for the job we do today. And if we do a good enough job today, then the opportunity to do that job or a different job will be there tomorrow. And that’s what you hope for.”
The 2025 season has been filled with disappointment for the Ravens, who are playing with a losing record in December for the first time since 2015. Baltimore has also dropped six home games, which marked the most in a single season in franchise history.
Harbaugh has been a stalwart with the Ravens, as his 18 years with the organization is the second-longest active tenure, only behind the Steelers’ Mike Tomlin, who is in his 19th campaign with the franchise.

He has been featured as the team’s all-time winningest head coach, boasting a 192-123 record while leading the organization to a Super Bowl title in 2012, six AFC North division titles, and 12 playoff appearances.
Harbaugh inked a three-year extension with the Ravens back in March, which keeps him under contract through the 2028 campaign. Depending on how Baltimore finishes the season, it could determine if a massive change is on the horizon.
