Ravens view star DE Trey Hendrickson as ‘closer’
Over the past week or so, the Baltimore Ravens have come under fire for two controversial moves: backing out of a blockbuster trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for superstar Maxx Crosby, then immediately pivoting to sign star defensive end Trey Hendrickson, formerly of the division rival Cincinnati Bengals.
Despite all the criticism the Ravens have received for backing out of the Crosby trade, the team remained focused on improving its defense by inking Hendrickson to a deal, with new head coach Jesse Minter praising the veteran’s “closer mentality” in the introductory press conference this week, via ESPN.
“When we talk about being able to have a closer mentality and finish games and dominate in the fourth quarter, Trey is the epitome of that [with] how he’s played the last four or five years,” Minter said.
Hendrickson shared his thoughts on signing with the Ravens and what he will bring to the table in Baltimore.
“I think winning on defense and getting the ball back to your quarterback is something that I’m motivated to do,” Hendrickson said. “I want the other 10 guys to count on me. If we’re in a place and it’s a pinch, you got to have gas in the tank and you got to be able to push when everybody else doesn’t want to.”
Even though the Ravens have been going through some changes, most notably parting ways with longtime head coach John Harbaugh, Baltimore could be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Only time will tell what these changes in Baltimore will do for the team, but they have definitely remained aggressive in their efforts to be a contender in 2026.
