Russell Wilson shares thoughts on signing with Giants
After signing with the New York Giants, former Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson voiced that he expects to be the starting quarterback.
“Yeah, I expect to be the starter and come in here and be ready to rock and roll every day,” Wilson said during an introductory news conference via video when asked how the situation was laid out by the Giants via ESPN. “I think this team’s really looking for somebody to lead them in every way.”
The Giants have undergone plenty of movement at the quarterback position over the offseason, which also featured bringing back Tommy DeVito and signing Jameis Winston.
Meanwhile, the team is still believed to be interested in adding a quarterback through the upcoming draft. The Giants hold the third overall pick, which should put them in the prime position to snag one of the top-projected quarterbacks.
Wilson figures to have the first crack at earning the starting job, given his pedigree and experience. He’s coming off an eventful lone campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers that saw him miss the first missing the first several weeks of the season then being inserted as the starter for the final 11 games.

The 36-year-old helped guide the Steelers into the playoffs but lost their last five games, ending with a disappointing wildcard-round loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
