Seahawks ‘have had discussions’ about trading for Falcons WR Julio Jones

The trade chatter around Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones has heated up another notch.

The Falcons continue to take offers for the All-Pro wideout as the offseason moves along. According to ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks have entered the picture as a potential landing spot.

As the Falcons continue to field calls from teams interested in trading for Julio Jones, the Seahawks have had discussions about a possible trade with Atlanta for the wide receiver, sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The Seahawks have ventured through an intriguing offseason due to the drama around star quarterback Russell Wilson. He aired his frustration back in February, which led to trade chatter emerging around Seattle.

The Seahawks held firm to Wilson while never progressing toward any serious trade consideration. The possible addition of Jones could go a long way in appeasing the star quarterback as it provides him another offensive weapon.

The tandem of Jones and D.K. Metcalf, alongside Tyler Lockett, would give Seattle one of the top receiving corps. However, the Seahawks’ biggest issues lie with the offensive line.

Adding Jones would be a significant offensive upgrade, but the protection up front is where the problems lie. The Seahawks’ interest likely lies solely with proving to Wilson that the team is serious about contending for a Super Bowl.

Other teams such as the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and LA Rams have expressed interest. It’s likely that Jones will have a new NFL home in the coming weeks ahead of the 2021 campaign.
