Seahawks QB Geno Smith focused on this season rather than free agency
Heading into the 2022 season, the Seattle Seahawks were surrounded by plenty of uncertainty after the Russell Wilson trade.
The Seahawks have more than answered the bell. Geno Smith has provided the stability the franchise was hoping to find after Wilson’s departure.
Seattle sits atop the NFC West division standings behind a 5-3 record. Smith’s strong play has been a huge factor as he’s experiencing a breakout campaign, ranking ninth with 1,924 passing yards, tied for fifth with 13 touchdown passes, and fourth with a 66.6 quarterback rating.

The veteran quarterback attributed his stellar start to his dedication and focus on his craft.
“You’ve got to be on it every single day,” Smith said via ESPN. “A lot of people wish they were in this position and I’m grateful to have worked myself into this position. Also, knowing who I am. I’m very set in who I am and know exactly what I can do. So I never bought into the narrative that’s been out there.”
Smith has helped turn the Seahawks into a legitimate team vying for the playoffs. He has looked poise under center while putting forth six games with multiple touchdown passes and five contests with a passer rating above 100.
