Steelers coach Mike Tomlin claims Antonio Brown won’t be in Pittsburgh if ‘production stops’
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in the midst of a major internal dilemma with star wide receiver Antonio Brown.
There have been plenty of questions concerning his long-term future with the franchise. It appears to be a situation with plenty of wrinkles that another one was revealed with head Mike Tomlin reportedly having told the team that Brown will be shipped off once his production dips, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“[Tomlin] essentially told the group, we’ll tolerate it now because of what he brings on the field, but the minute production stops, you don’t overlook it.”
This throws another hurdle in the situation as it appears that Tomlin has made it quite comfortable for Brown to behave in the manner that he has. There appears to be a much higher level of tolerance because of his high level of production on the field.
Brown has established himself as one of the top players in the league at his position, which he has continued to prove it with each passing campaign. However, there has been plenty of issues to arise over the 2018 season that created a distraction around the team that all came to a head in the season finale when he was a healthy scratch for the season finale with a playoff berth on the line.
Ultimately, this is a complex situation that has many different wrinkles to it. It’s a matter that can unfold in many different directions over the next several weeks once the offseason gets underway.
