Steelers’ Mike Tomlin reveals Aaron Rodgers’ status for Week 13
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their grip on the top spot in the NFC North standings after falling short 31-28 against the Chicago Bears in Week 12 action.
Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers sat out due to a fractured left wrist. Despite that injury designation, head coach Mike Tomlin voiced that he expects Rodgers to play next week against the Buffalo Bills.
“I anticipate him being ready for next week [against the Buffalo Bills],” Tomlin said via ESPN. “It was a prudent decision to make. Certainly, it wasn’t a fluid week for him. It was a fluid week for Mason in terms of reps and so forth, and so I think it’ll be in our rear view as we move forward. I’m hopeful of that.”
Rodgers suffered the injury against the Cincinnati Bengals, which caused him to miss the second half of the game. He was able to participate in a limited fashion on Friday before Sunday’s game, but didn’t showcase enough to warrant a start.

Tomlin voiced that Rodgers doesn’t need to practice to prove he can play against the Bills next week.
“He’s the type of guy — and has the type of profile — that doesn’t require a lot of physical work in an effort to be ready to play,” Tomlin said at his weekly news conference. “And that’s helpful.”
If Rodgers is unable to play, expect backup Mason Rudolph to get the start again. Rudolph nearly led the Steelers past the surging Bears as he completed 24 of 31 passes for 171 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
