Super Bowl 55 preview: 5 reasons the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will win
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are trying to win their second title in franchise history, and it’ll ride on a handful of keys to execute on Sunday night.
5. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the home team
This is the first time a team has played in its home stadium for the Super Bowl. Tampa Bay looked an unlikely bet to fill this role when its entered the postseason as the No. 5 seed with three road games ahead, and yet here we are. The Buccaneers are playing in the fourth Super Bowl ever put on at Tampa. As a result, the fans have something historic to enjoy.

4. Rob Gronkowski is a bad matchup for Kansas City
Gronkowski is not who he once was. The days of making the Pro Bowl and being named as an All-Pro are long gone. However, he’s still a good player. In Week 12, Gronkowski went for more than 100 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, the only time he eclipsed the threshold in 2020. If the Chiefs don’t make some adjustments to their plan come Sunday, he’s likely going to have another very good game.
3. The Chiefs’ offensive line is really banged up
This has been talked about all week, and for good reason. Tampa Bay has one of the best fronts in the league (more on that below) and Kansas City is without starting left tackle Eric Fisher, who tore his Achilles tendon in the AFC Championship Game. With the Pro Bowler out, the Chiefs have to move right tackle Mike Remmers to the left side, while guard Andrew Wylie kicks to the perimeter. Tough situation.

2. Tom Brady remains the GOAT
Brady is not the best quarterback in football. No, he’s not Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson. Still, Brady, even at 43 years old, is capable of winning it all. He has struggled at times in the postseason. Although with six rings and now 10 Super Bowl appearances, the leadership and ability to function under the ultimate pressure is going to matter.
1. The front four is going to be a problem
This is the biggest reason to believe in the Bucs is right here. Tampa Bay has a tremendous group in edge rushers Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett, and interior rushers Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea. If the Buccaneers can push the pocket from the inside and then collapse on it from the perimeter, they have a real shot to pull off the upset.
