Houston Texans Make Historic Move With Will Anderson Jr. in Record-Breaking Deal
The Houston Texans have secured a long-term foundational piece after agreeing to a three-year, $150 million extension with star defensive end Will Anderson Jr.
The historic deal makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history, while it includes $134 million in guaranteed money.
Anderson’s new contract pushes him ahead of the four-year, $188 million contract extension with $120 million fully guaranteed at signing and $136 million in total guarantees that the Green Bay Packers gave to All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons after they acquired him from the Dallas Cowboys last August.
The massive move came shortly after the Texans decided to pick up the fifth-year option in Anderson’s rookie contract that secured him through the 2027 season. Houston wasted no time in working out a new deal that will keep their star defensive end in tow for the foreseeable future.
Since entering the league, Anderson has more than fulfilled his potential by developing into one of the league’s best defensive talents. He’s coming off yet another high-end production campaign that saw him finish second in the Defensive Player of the Year award after recording 12 sacks and 20 tackles for loss.
He was more than a pass rusher as he showed tremendous impact against the run, ranking seventh in run stop rate (12.6%) and third with 13 run stuffs, and second with 85 pressures among defenders with at least 150 run defensive snaps.

Anderson served as an anchor to one of the league’s best defenses that helped push the Texans toward an AFC South division title and playoff berth.
Houston’s next line of business will likely be toward securing quarterback C.J. Stroud under a long-term extension before the 2026 season.
