Tight Race in NFC East – Week 11 Preview
We go into week 11 of the NFL regular season knowing that Eagles and Cowboys are in a tight race to take the NFC East champion title. If there was any doubt, this is clearly a two-team race with the Eagles 7-2 and Dallas 7-3 while Washington and the Giants are both 3-6.
Why Philly?
Philadelphia is making their case strong with a blowout on Monday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers. This was Mark Sanchez’ opportunity to prove himself in the Eagles offense and the pass rush helped the team win 45-21. It was only one full game for Sanchez but it makes you wonder what his career might have looked like if he had left the Jets sooner?
The Eagles are not only proving themselves in the NFC East but they also are at the top of the entire NFC division. The Eagles are so far undefeated in the NFC East, 2-0. Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric has the Eagles predicted to win the Super Bowl at 11.4% which is second best, only to the Denver Broncos.
This week, the Eagles and Sanchez face a tough road game in Green Bay against the 6-3 Packers.
Why Dallas?
The Cowboys have a bye this week and it is certain that it couldn’t have come at a more crucial time. Romo was originally probable because he was injured during the team’s loss to Washington in week 8 but played anyway against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 10. A bye week this week gives Romo the chance to heal, which the Cowboys need as he is a key factor to the team’s success in the rest of the season.
The Cowboys were able to pull out a win against the Jaguars in London, improving their record to 7-3.
So while there isn’t much to discuss for week 11 for the Cowboys, there is a lot to figure out before the next game.
