Titans superstar Derrick Henry focused on winning saying ‘stats really don’t matter’

The Tennessee Titans have Super Bowl title aspirations once again this season with Derrick Henry making a strong case for NFL MVP.

Henry has been destroying opposing defenses on a weekly basis putting up incredible stats while coming off the fourth 200-yard, two-touchdown performance of his career. Despite the impressive stats and case for MVP, Henry is solely focused on winning moving forward as he wants it made clear that stats don’t matter to him, via The Athletic.

“If we could go 4-0 these last (four) weeks I’d be most happy,” Henry said after the first of four, with one win needed to advance the Titans past their streak of four straight 9-7 seasons. “Like I said earlier this week, I don’t care about stats. Last week I was really pissed off about the way I played (against Cleveland), thought I played poorly and I didn’t do my job to help my team, so I’m still pissed off about last week. I just want to do my job to help my team and do anything I can to help us win. Stats really don’t matter.”

In 13 games with the Titans this season, Henry has rushed for 1,532 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has been a virtual juggernaut for the Titans during the 2020 campaign and will be vital to the team’s chances of coming out on top in the AFC.

The Titans are currently sitting atop the AFC South division standings with a record of 9-4 and will win a tiebreaker with the Indianapolis Colts (9-4) due to their winning percentage in division games.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Titans finish the season and if Henry’s play can propel them to the Super Bowl.
