Tom Brady not opposed to unretiring to play in the NFL

It’s been two months since Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL after 23 seasons.

However, it hasn’t diminished his itch to potentially make a comeback if the right scenario presents itself to him.

During an appearance on the “Deep Cut” podcast with Vic Blends, the seven-time Super Bowl champion voiced that he would entertain the possibility of playing again if a team experiences an injury to their starting quarterback.

“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady said via ESPN. “I don’t know if they are going to let me if I become an owner of an NFL team. I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ [Michael Jordan] coming back, I don’t know if they would let me. But I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Blends suggested the San Francisco 49ers, but Brady brought up the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders.

However, the future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback discussed his pending partial ownership of the Raiders as a factor that could prevent a return.

Brady is also lined up to start his broadcast duties with Fox Sports this upcoming season.

Although Brady is retired, he clearly still has some interest in making a comeback if the situation works for him. He isn’t far removed from playing, which likely is fueling him entertaining that possibility.

If a team such as the 49ers, Raiders, or Patriots were to experience an untimely injury, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an NFL team reach out to see if Brady was interested in making a comeback.

Time will tell if that scenario arises next season.
