Tyreek Hill intends to continue NFL career after Dolphins release

The Miami Dolphins decided to clear significant salary cap space on Monday, which included parting ways with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

The Dolphins are also set to release former Pro Bowl linebacker Bradley Chubb as part of several moves ahead of the start of the new league year. There is currently no clarity on whether the moves will occur immediately or on March 11 and be designated as post-June 1 transactions.

There had been speculation that the Dolphins were considering major changes this upcoming offseason, given the team’s new direction under recently hired head coach Jeff Hafley.

Miami had acquired Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a first-round pick, second-round selection, two fourth-round picks, and a sixth-round selection. The Dolphins also quickly inked him to a four-year, $120 million extension.

Hill excelled in his first two seasons in Miami, posting back-to-back campaigns with at least 1,700 receiving yards. His production dropped off in 2024, notching 81 receptions for 959 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

His 2025 season came to an abrupt end after tearing his ACL in Week 4, finishing with 21 catches for 265 receiving yards and one touchdown. Hill is now set to become a free agent for the first time in his career.

“Miami, you have became my home. But, the journey doesn’t stop here… Every chapter in life has taught me something,” Hill stated in an Instagram post via ESPN. “This one taught me leadership, resilience, and mostly gratitude. The love I have for this game is unexplainable. And right now, this off season, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused.

“The Cheetah don’t slow down. Ever. So to everyone wondering what’s next… just wait on it. The Cheetah will be back…Born Again.”
