Veteran QB Daniel Jones signs with Minnesota Vikings
After Daniel Jones closed the book on his tenure with the New York Giants, he’s set to begin his next chapter with the Minnesota Vikings.
Jones steps into a new situation where he could become a long-term piece of the team’s quarterback plans. With that in mind, he voiced the strong importance of adapting to his new surroundings.
“I think you’re always looking to grow and improve,” Jones said via ESPN, “and to work on your craft. See where you can get better and pick up certain things. So yeah, I’m looking forward to that, but more so just to help out, to be part of a good quarterback room, part of a good offense and see where I can help.”
Although Jones struggled through much of his time with the Giants, he does have plenty of experience that the team could lean on if needed. He will likely serve as the primary backup to Sam Darnold, who has helped guide the Vikings to a 9-2 record.
Darnold is putting forth his best season, posting a career-high 21 touchdown passes along with holding career-best averages with 101.7 passer rating and 8.3 yards per pass attempt.

Minnesota is in prime position to make a playoff push while remaining in contention for the NFC North division title sitting only a game back in the loss column to the Detroit Lions, who are on a 10-game winning streak.
The Vikings will finish the regular season with a Week 18 matchup against the Lions that could determine the division title race.
