Vikings RB Dalvin Cook will participate in voluntary offseason program
Although concerns over the coronavirus have significantly impacted the NFL offseason, teams around the league have continued to operate in a virtual space.
That has seen begin to move through their voluntary offseason workout programs. With that in mind, Minnesota Vikings star running back Dalvin Cook has decided to participate despite waiting for a new contract, according to Tom Pelissero of The NFL Network.

The Vikings begin the virtual period of their voluntary offseason program today, and star RB Dalvin Cook plans to participate while awaiting a new contract, per sources. Cook is entering the last year of his rookie deal.
Cook is currently in the final year of his four-year, $6.3 million rookie deal. He has continued to voice his desire for a new lucrative extension with the Vikings, but there haven’t been any notable steps forward in the contract talks.

The 24-year-old is coming off a strong 2019 season that saw him post career highs with 1,135 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns along with 53 catches for 519 receiving yards in 14 games played. Injuries have played a significant factor in his brief NFL career that forced him to miss time on the field in his first couple of seasons.
Cook has proven to be a pivotal part of the Vikings’ offense as arguably their focal point of the game plan. He has put himself in the picture as one of the league’s best all-around running backs that is in the prime of his career. It may be a matter of time before he has a new deal with Minnesota.
