Vikings won’t rush injured superstar WR Justin Jefferson back
The Minnesota Vikings suffered a major blow during Week 5’s matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson went down with a hamstring injury, which leaves his status up in the air moving forward.
Along with losing another game, the Vikings could be without Jefferson for some time due to the hamstring injury, which can be tricky and tough to bounce back from quickly. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell talked about the status of Jefferson via ESPN.

“He’s down today,” O’Connell said of Jefferson. “He’s obviously one of the most ultra-competitors I’ve ever met. He was trying to go back in the game as it was yesterday. We’re going to have to medically make a good decision and help almost protect him from himself a little bit in a way where we’ve got to take care of him and get him back to 100%.”
Obviously, without Jefferson on the field, the Vikings are a much different team, as he is arguably the best wide receiver in the game today. Quarterback Kirk Cousins might have some struggles getting the offense going without Jefferson, which doesn’t bode well for wins down the road.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Vikings react to losing Jefferson and if the team can at least remain competitive moving forward without the league’s elite wide receiver.
Next week, the Vikings will go on the road to face the division-rival Chicago Bears.
