Zach Ertz won’t report to Eagles camp amid trade rumors
The Philadelphia Eagles have gone through some drastic changes during this NFL offseason. As a result, the team is going in a different direction on the offensive side of the football.
Along with parting ways with head coach Doug Pederson and trading quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts, the Eagles appear to be on the verge of getting the Zach Ertz situation resolved. According to Jeff McLane of Inquirer.com, the star tight end didn’t report to camp this week. Justifiably so as it appears he’ll wait until he’s traded or he’s released. That’s according to Jeff McLane of Inquirer.com.

Zach Ertz, understandably, wasn’t one of the #Eagles veterans to report today for the start of the voluntary Phase 2, a source said. He isn’t expected to report for the remainder of the offseason program or until his situation is resolved (read: he’s traded or released). https://t.co/ZxeVP5JzTD

It may only be a matter of time before the Eagles officially part ways with Ertz. The team could be trying everything within their power to find a trade partner before they may be forced to release him.

With Ertz being one of the best tight ends in the league, it would seem that it wouldn’t be all that difficult to move him to a take looking for a boost in the passing game. However, many teams are already set with their roster and may not want to shake things up at this point or may want to wait until a little while longer before making a move.
Last season, Ertz had one of his worst NFL campaigns to date. He played in only 11 games and scoring once in those 11 contests for the Eagles. He finished the 2020 season with 36 catches for 335 yards and one touchdown.
