Few Surprises Expected for NHL Awards
The Las Vegas Golden Knights will reveal their roster tonight and we already know a few of the players. Marc Andre Fleury will be the new face of the franchise. But the team is building for the future more than many thought. A number of decent players were passed on in exchange for draft picks. So the Golden Knights will be able to stock up their farm teams
The announcing of the Las Vegas roster may be the most exciting thing to happen tonight at the NHL Awards show. Many of the awards are thought to be forgone conclusions. Such as as Connor McDavid winning the Hart. He’s -650, while Sidney Crosby is +400 and Sergei Bobrovsky is +1100.
Brent Burns is the odds-on favorite for the Norris. But Erik Karlsson may be one of the few who can pass him. Burns is -320, while Karlsson is +180. Victor Hedman is a huge long shot at +2500.
Bobrovsky appears to have a lock on the Vezina is -400. Washington’s Braden Holtby is +220 and Carey Price is +2200.
Austin Matthews is -2000 to capture the Calder. While Patrik Laine had a solid rookie year, it’s probably going to earn him second place. Zach Werenski is likely to place third. Laine is +550 and Werenski is +1800.
Mike Babcock is the favorite to win the Jack Adams Award as best coach at -135. And he probably deserves it by getting the Maple Leafs to the playoffs. John Tortorella did a great job with Columbus and Todd McLellan was strong with Edmonton. Torts is +225 and McLellan is +265.
Patrice Bergeron is the slight favorite to win his fourth Selke Award at -120. But Ryan Kesler is close behind at +130. Mikko Koivu is next at +500.
So the real excitement will likely come in the roster announcements. They are believed to be announcing several players at a time between the different NHL awards handed out.
