North Carolina visits Duke in Regular Season Finale
Two ACC rivals meet in Durham, North Carolina Saturday when the No. 8 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels visit the No. 21 ranked Duke Blue Devils. The current line has North Carolina favored by 1 point, while the over/under point total has yet to be released.
Entering this game, North Carolina has a record for the season of 24-6 straight up and 12-17 against the spread. On the road, the Tar Heels are 5-5 SU and 3-7 ATS.
Duke on the season is 22-8 SU and 13-14 ATS. At home, the Blue Devils are 15-2 SU and 8-7 ATS.
This is the regular season finale for the two teams. The Tar Heels will be looking for revenge after a tough loss at home to Duke last month. Duke trailed for most of that game, but 23 points by Grayson Allen and a Derryck Thornton block late, gave Duke the 74-73 win at Chapel Hill.
However, Duke is just 2-2 since that game. Against North Carolina, the Blue Devils have won four straight. Since losing to Duke, North Carolina has won 3 of its 4 games and is tied at the top of the ACC with Miami.
North Carolina defeated Syracuse on Tuesday by five points behind Brice Johnson’s 14 points and 10 boards. Marcus Paige has continued his disappointing season as he scored 6 points while hitting just 2 of his 10 shots.
Allen has had an impressive season as a sophomore at Duke. On Tuesday, he had 30 points in the Blue Devils 8-point victory against Wake Forest. Allen has scored at least 10 points in each game since Christmas.
Brandon Ingram the Duke freshman sensation has not played well the past five games overall. However, his shooting from 3-point territory has remained high at 40% the past seven games.
The first time the two teams played earlier this season, North Carolina hit just 1 of its 13 shots from beyond the three-point line.
Since hitting 3 of his four shots from 3-point territory Duke’s Luke Kennard has only hit 4 of his 17 from that range over the past four games.
North Carolina has covered the number in 8 of the past 10 games played between the two teams in Duke.
Prediction: North Carolina has the advantage over Duke in a number of categories and I see the game going 4-2 or 5-2 in favor of Real.
