Patriots working to extend Rob Gronkowski, despite being MIA at OTAs
So far, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been a no-show at the team’s voluntary OTAs.
At the same time these team activities are kicking off, it is reported that the Patriots and Rob Gronkowski “are intent†on reaching a contract extension.
New deal for Gronk?
"I do get the sense both sides are intent on working toward an agreement."

Gronkowski is currently the fourth-highest paid tight end in the league. He averages $9 million per year on a deal that takes him through the 2020 season. The amount he is guaranteed on his current $54 million contract is only 24.4 percent.
The Patriots obviously realize the value Gronk brings to the team as he puts himself in harm’s way each and every game.
Gronkowski was originally drafted in the second round in 2010. Over his eight years in the league, the four-time All-Pro has recorded 7,179 yards and 76 touchdowns. He has also missed 26 of 128 possible games due to various injuries. But, when Gronk is healthy he is one of the best at his position.
It would appear it is only a matter of time before Gronk and Patriots strike a new deal. How many seasons the new deal will take him through remains to be seen.
