Preseason Week 2 Preview: Colts vs Giants
A clash between the New York Giants and the Indianapolis Colts would, under regular season standards, be a very exciting game.
Just comparing these two teams you can see how similar their offensive styles are. Â Both teams have total yards per game between 350 and 360 yards. Â Both teams have passing yards per game well over the 200 yards mark. Â Both teams rush for around 100 yards a game. Â Lastly, each of these teams average about 24 points a game. Â Even their defensive stats are similar.
However, let’s not kid ourselves. Â This is a preseason game, that really does not count. Â It is a game that during the regular season would come down to who’s defense can stop the other team’s offense in a high scoring game, to a clash between these two teams second and third string players.
Continuing our honesty, both these teams’ fans are just hoping that no important players get injured in this game during the three or four snaps they may or may not play.
Still, just a few weeks ago we were complaining about how we had no football to watch or bet on. Â Now we have some football and we are all complaining about how it doesn’t count. Â You just can’t make us happy.
Anyway, I know I will be watching the preseason closely. Â These guys may not be household names, but they are still top notch athletes worthy of placing some money on, in my opinion.
With that said, it is difficult to analyze the capabilities of a team’s second string players. Â When their isn’t any extraordinary talent on the field to carry a team, it often comes down to coaching efforts. Â Both these teams have an incredible coaching staff.
Bovada has the Giants has the favorites with a -2 point spread. Â You can catch this preseason edition of Sunday Night Football at 7 p.m. ET on FOX.
