Rashawn Slater Diving Into Tape Ahead Of Next Season
If Rashawn Slater continues on his current trajectory, his second season is going to be one hell of a year.
The Los Angeles Chargers tackle had a highlight rookie season in the NFL. Rashawn Slater earned a Pro Bowl bid and finished the season as the 8th best tackle in the league.
However, Rashawn Slater isn’t resting on his laurels. He knows he has a ton of improvement to do if he’s going to come back stronger.

“I watched the tape. There were all sorts of things,” Rashawn Slater said Monday. “I look at the tape and a lot of it kind of makes me cringe. There’s detail and technique, and sometimes I’ll be this close, but there’s always that little room for improvement that can make a big difference. For me, I just try to focus on what I can do to get better; a little thing every single play.”
Next season, he will have All-Pro edge rusher Khalil Mack to face up against in practice.
“I think it was the day after that trade happened, I was on my honeymoon and Coach Staley had texted me, ‘Get your mind right,’ or something like that [laughter],” Slater said when asked if he was excited to face Mack. “I’m trying to enjoy this right now, but I’ll be ready.”

“It was a journey, every single week being able to challenge myself,” Slater said of his rookie season. “Being a part of the offense that we were, it was so exciting every single week because I knew that if I did my job, everyone behind me was going to make explosive plays and stuff like that. I was really just focused on me. It was a lot of fun, though.”
