Redskins @ Broncos Preview: Redskins Try To Keep Momentum

One of the big NFL games of the day will be a battle between two great passing offenses.

The Denver Broncos will not be heading into this matchup undefeated.  They lost to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, 39-33.  However, to many, the Broncos are still the best team in the NFL, despite the Kansas City Chiefs being the only remaining undefeated team. Peyton Manning is still having a career-season and the Broncos still see as though they are destined for a big postseason.  They will attempt to bounce back after their loss this week.

While the Broncos were losing to the Colts their opponents in Week 8, the Washington Redskins, were busy upsetting the Chicago Bears, 45-41.  It was a big win for the Redskins, but at 2-4, the Redskins have a long way to go if they hope to play beyond the regular season.  A win against arguable the best team in the NFL would give the Redskins a huge boost in the right direction.

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Denver Broncos

The Broncos defense failed Peyton Manning last week.  He threw for nearly 400 yards and found the end zone three times during the game.  Denver’s defense, more particularly their secondary, let Andrew Luck throw three touchdowns of his own, costing the Broncos the game.

The Broncos are the No. 1 passing offense in the NFL, they are No. 16 in rushing and No. 1 in rush-defense.  However, their secondary ranks dead last in the NFL.  The deep ball is something that the Broncos have a huge problem, which is also why the Broncos have consistently allowed teams to score between 20 and 40 points except in one game this season.

This brings us to RGIII and the Redskins.  RGIII’s highlight reel maybe filled with QB option runs but he also knows how to throw the ball and if he does it accurately in this game, the Redskins have a shot at upsetting teams two weeks in a row.

The Redskins are the No.7 passing offense in the NFL.  RGIII has the ability to pick apart a poor secondary like Denver’s.  The game will come down to whether or not the No.4 rushing team in the NFL can get their rush offense going.  RGIII is going to have to versatile and put up another 80-plus yard rushing game as well as some big passing numbers to upset the Broncos.

Denver are the huge favorites in this game with a point spread between -10 and -13 at most sportbooks. The game starts at 4:25 p.m. ET today on FOX.
