Report: No talks between Steelers, Le’Veon Bell in 2 months
The latest news regarding the contract stalemate between Le’Veon Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers is not encouraging, to say the least.
We already know how much Bell wants to be paid per year–$17 million, on par with Antonio Brown–on any long-term deal.
The problem is, the Steelers put contract talks with Bell on the back burner months ago before the draft. Since then, the two sides haven’t talked about a new deal, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.
The Steelers put contract negotiations with Le’Veon Bell on hold a couple months back, which the team explained by stating it intended to first focus on free agency and the NFL Draft before moving forward on a potential extension.
Nearly two months have passed, and with it being a little more than 30 days shy of the deadline to get a new deal done, there have been no talks between the two sides a source told The Athletic on Wednesday.
So much for getting it rolling again following the draft.

Bell is set to earn $14.5 million on the franchise tag this year. He has stated he will not attend training camp without a long-term deal. As a result, it looks like the Steelers won’t see him until the regular season for the second consecutive year.
Furthermore, it’s looking more and more likely that Bell will become one of the most coveted free agents in 2019. He’ll assuredly land the big contract he so desperately wants. It just won’t likely happen with the Steelers.
