Saints host Falcons in Crucial NFC South Showdown

A key NFC South matchup pits the visiting Atlanta Falcons against the host New Orleans Saints on Sunday. New Orleans 6-8 is leading the division over the Falcons, who have a 5-9 record and are in third place a half game behind the 5-8-1 Carolina Panthers.

With a win, Atlanta can sweep the head-to-head series this season, but is 0-11 SU and 3-8 ATS as a road dog.

The current line has New Orleans favored by 6 points with the point total resting on 55.5.

Atlanta is 3-1 against the number in its past four games versus New Orleans.

New Orleans is 0-4 SU as well as ATS in its past four games played at home.

The UNDER has cashed in 3 of the past 4 games between the two teams. The OVER has cashed in 5 of the past 6 games the Saints have played at home.

Things have not been so super for the Saints in the Superdome of late. New Orleans is 3-1 SU and ATS in its past four games on the road, but at home, the Saints have not had the results they have wanted.

New Orleans is riding a losing streak of four games at home since routing Green Bay 44-23 during Week 8.

At home, nothing has come easy for the Saints since that win. The last time New Orleans lost four consecutive home games was in 2005, but that was when the team finished 3-13.

Prior to their current losing streak at home, the Saints were 11-0 SU in their past 11 and 9-1-1 ATS.

Atlanta is 0-11 in its past 11 games as a road dog, but is 2-1 ATS in its past three on the road.

The last road game for Atlanta was a 43-37 loss to Green Bay but the Falcons covered as an underdog of 13.5 points.

Julio Jones the top wide receiver for Atlanta injured his hip against Green Bay. He has been out of practice for two weeks and did not play when the Falcons lost last week at home to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-20.

It will not be known until game time if Jones will play or not.

Matt Ryan the Atlanta quarterback missed his top receiver, who is able to stretch the field.

Keep abreast of the injury prior to kickoff before laying money down on this matchup.

The spread seems too big in favor of New Orleans. The Saints have played poor at home and are a mediocre team at best.

Both offenses are capable of scoring especially against two of the worst defenses in the NFL making the OVER a good choice. The Falcons are last in the NFL allowing 6.3 yards a play, while the Saints are No. 29 allowing 6.1 yards a play.

Pick: I like the Saints straight up and the Falcons against the spread in a high-scoring game that cashes on the OVER.
