Spurs, Rockets In A Division Battle

Tonight, the Houston Rockets will head to San Antonio looking to put some more distance between themselves and their division rivals. The Spurs, on the other hand, will be looking to gain some ground on the No. 1 team in the Southwest.

The Rockets tested newly signed forward and sixth man Josh Smith in their last outing with a lot of success. Smith played over 30 minuets off the bench and scored 21 points as the Rockets beat the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime on Friday. The Grizzlies covered a 2 point spread as underdogs in the game and hit the OVER.

Smith will likely be a key part of the Rockets game plan heading into San Antonio, considering his success in Memphis.

Historically, the Rockets have won six straight games against the defending NBA Champions. In their last meeting, early in the season, the Rockets won 98-81 behind 32 points and 16 rebound from Dwight Howard. However, Howard as struggled recently. In h is last outing he scored only six points.

The Spurs took a loss in their last outing, 97-90, against the New Orleans Pelicans. They failed to cover a 2.5 spread as underdogs. The UNDER made bettors money in that game.

The Spurs were without Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili in the game, and Tony Parker only mustered up six points. Parker will sit this game, but Duncan and Ginobili are expected to return. Kawhi Leonard is also questionable for the Spurs.

The Spurs are looking to halt a bit of a skid. If they lose to the Rockets tonight, it will mark their seventh loss in eight games.

The Spurs are favorites to win in this one with a 1-point spread. The Spurs are 2-5 against the spread over their last seven games. Houston has covered five games in their last seven.

The total is set at 197 points. The Rockets have favored the OVER in four of its last five games. The Spurs also have hit the OVER recently. 10 of their last 13 games have made OVER bettors money.

The game starts at around 7 p.m.
