Texans’ J.J. Watt ‘devastated’ by season-ending leg injury
The Houston Texans suffered a major blow to their defense in Week 5 with the team losing superstar J.J. Watt to a season-ending knee injury. Watt went down with tibial plateau fracture in his left leg and ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
After suffering a season-ending injury for the second straight year, Watt took to Twitter to express his frustration.
I can't sugarcoat it, I am devastated.
All I want to do is be out there on that field for my teammates and this city.
I'm sorry.— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) October 9, 2017
Following the loss to the Chiefs, the Texans fall below .500 with a 2-3 record. This is unfortunate, to say the least with the team showing a lot of promise with rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson under center.
Watson had another solid week for Houston with the rookie throwing for a career-high five touchdowns in the loss to the Chiefs. The team appears to have found their franchise quarterback with Watson coming along much faster than anticipated, but without Watt leading the defense, it remains to be seen whether this team will be able to put it together this season in order to make another playoff push.
In Week 6, the Texans will have an ideal opportunity to bounce back from the loss to the Chiefs. Houston will host the lowly Cleveland Browns on Sunday before heading into their bye week. Then Houston will have their work cut out for them once again in Week 7 as they face the Seattle Seahawks on the road.
