The Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl Odds
Many have questioned the Atlanta Falcons status as legit contenders all season.
Their current record at 13-2 is good enough to not only have already clinched a playoff spot but it will also give them home field advantage. Still, though, a lot of sports talking heads say that teams like the New England Patriots, Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers are the real top contenders to win the Super Bowl.
Bovada seems to agree. The Falcons have the fourth best odds of winning the Super Bowl at 13/2 behind the Patriots.
The biggest nays from the naysayers came a couple weeks ago when the Falcons lost to the Carolina Panthers who were in the midst of a losing season and still are for that matter. The loss prompted many to claim that the Falcons have been exposed as a pretender.
The Falcons responded to their critics by shutting out the defending Super Bowl Champions the New York Giants. The loss put the Giants behind the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins in the NFC East division standings and has seemed to put the Giants on a road with no post season on the horizon.
After that the Falcons handed the Detroit Lions a loss that was filled with mixed emotions for the Lions. Calvin Johnson surpassed Jerry Rice’s receiving yard record but the Lions were handed yet another loss on the season. The Falcons, though, won decisively and that is all that mattered to them.
The Falcons are the real deal and the team that ends up having to take on the Falcons are going to dread it as any game with the Falcons is going to be a tough one.
