The NFL is Helping Colin Kaepernick Out. Kind Of.
Frozen out NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will finally have a chance to prove his readiness for competitive football on Saturday.Â
Colin Kaepernick was the first player to protest during the national anthem back in 2016. He inspired the now iconic ‘take a knee’ movement that has been inspirational and controversial in equal measure.Â
Since then, a lot has happened for Colin Kaepernick. The take a knee movement was adopted by many of his fellow NFL players. As well as that athletes crossing different sports and nations took it to their hearts. It’s been debated by media types, and was a source of great irritation for President Donald Trump.
Kaepernick lost his place on the San Francisco 49ers roster, and recently won a case against the NFL, in which he accused teams and owners of colluding against him.

Throughout the summer and the beginning of the 2019 season, Kaepernick has let it be known that he’s still working out.
His agent has let it be known that he is in prime football condition, and that he still wants to play.
This has culminated in the NFL inviting teams to a workout for Kaepernick in Atlanta on Saturday. On the face of it, it’s an olive branch and an opportunity extended to Kaepernick. However, the impending workout doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.
Firstly, the workout is scheduled on a Saturday. Most teams will be on the road and preparing for their Sunday game on Saturday.

Tuesday is traditionally the day for NFL workouts, since that’s when coaches are able to attend. If the league was serious about wanting to find Kaepernick a team, they would accommodate him more than this.Â
It’s something his friend and former teammate Eric Reid is suspicious of. Reid, despite supporting Kaepernick, isn’t optimistic that his friend will find a team.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Reid said Wednesday.Â
“At this point, it feels like a PR stunt.”
