Todd Bowles blasts Terrelle Pryor for speaking out about his injury

New York Jets wide receiver Terrelle Pryor recently revealed that his surgery on his ankle earlier this offseason was to correct a fractured ankle.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles has caught wind of this latest revelation that was to his dismay stating on Tuesday that Pryor should keep quiet about injuries and allow him to deal with that, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.

“Terrelle doesn’t need to be descriptive. I feel that he should keep his mouth shut and leave the injuries to me,” Bowles said after a joint practice with the Washington Redskins.

This has put more attention on Pryor given that he has now made his way back from surgery to repair a fractured ankle that he had back in May. It could also bring scrutiny on his health if he were to suffer any ankle injuries moving forward in his career. He had missed a significant amount of playing time last season due to an ankle injury that required surgery.

There is already a tremendous pressure on his shoulders to come in and produce at a high level. Pryor is just a season removed from his breakout campaign at wide receiver after transitioning from playing quarterback in 2016 notching 77 receptions for 1,007 receiving yards. He could step into becoming a primary target in the passing game in New York alongside fellow wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson.

This is also a chance for him to prove that he’s worth a long-term lucrative deal next offseason where will hit the open market in free agency for the third straight year.
