Tony Romo is reportedly mulling retirement
If Tony Romo is going to play in 2017, he won’t be leaving the state of Texas. According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, Romo believes he’ll play with the Houston Texans or retire.
I had some talks about Romo today. Broncos haven’t closed door but not pursuing. I’m told Romo believes it’s Texans or retirement for 2017.

Given how close both teams are and that they both need a quarterback, the Texans and Denver Broncos are the most logical options. Vance Joseph has recently said that Denver hasn’t had one meeting regarding Romo.
But even if he doesn’t play, Romo could well remain in the NFL. Both Fox Sports and CBS have expressed interest in Romo joining their respective announce teams.
If Romo does retire, he’ll finish with a 78-49 record, a career 65.3 completion percentage, 34,183 passing yards, 248 touchdowns, 117 interceptions, and a 97.1 passer rating.
Those kind of numbers are also why the Texans should exhaust every option to land Romo.
In 2016, Houston won the AFC South and advanced to the divisional playoffs. This was despite quarterback play that was never better than mediocre.
Tom Savage and the now departed Brock Osweiler combining to complete 59.5 percent of their passes for 3,418 yards, 15 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, and a 73.3 passer rating.
