Toronto On Top, Prepare For A’s
The Toronto Blue Jays have clawed their way to the top of the toughest division in the American League, the East, for the first time in five seasons. Meanwhile, the Oakland Athletics are also blazing their way across the AL. Arguable the two hottest teams in the MLB are set to collide today.
The Blue Jays have won eight of their last ten games and will play host to Oakland. This is a weekend series that started yesterday and the Blue Jays are already one game up after a 3-2 victory.
Toronto is riding a wave of great offense. They have put up 25 runs over five games, no counting the start of this series. They have also knocked at least two balls out of the park in four consecutive games.
The A’s have their own records to boast about, as well. They are the best team in the MLB right now according to win-loss records. They sit at 30-18. They have won 11 out of 14 games.
Toronto will be sending R.A. Dickey to the mound. The veteran has a mean knuckle ball and holds a decent 4.20 ERA in his last 10 starts. He is a reliable piece to the Blue Jays’ pitching staff. In his last outing, he lost two Texas but had a quality start, pitching 6 1/3 innings and allowing four runs.
Jesse Chavez will head to the dirt for Oakland. Chavez will be pitching against the team that helped craft him into a starter.
Former Blue Jay Jesse Chavez will take the mound for Oakland in what will be a start against the team that helped craft him into a starter.
Chavez has only allowed up to one earned run in five of his last nine outings. He has a 2.54 ERA and has limited batters to just .216 average on hitting. When Chavez pitches for the A’s they are 8-1.
The A’s are the favorites to win this game. The game starts at around 1 p.m. ET.
