TWIST! Richie Incognito Receiving Psychiatric Treatment
In a interesting reversal of roles, on Friday NFL.com’s Jeff Darlington tweeted that Richie Incognito, soon to be formerly of the Miami Dolphins, had checked himself into a psychiatric treatment facility in Arizona. The report comes just four months after Incognito’s, soon to be former, teammate Jonathan Martin left the team facilities and did the same.
Although Incognito doesn’t seem like the type to carefully tend to his mental and emotional well-being, it’s not a particularly surprising development given his recent downward trajectory into the psychological gutter. Since the release of the Wells Report, Incognito has shifted between being combative and being contrite on Twitter.
Incognito spent Valentine’s Day tweeting nonsense frantically, then slowed down a bit in the days that followed. Presumably after receiving several panicked phone calls from his various professional handlers. Incognito went silent on February 18th and hasn’t been heard from since.
Well..except for once.
Earlier this week it was reported that Scottsdale Police were investigating a claim that Incognito’s sweet Ferrari had been vandalized outside his Arizona home by some bat-wielding maniac. As it turned out though, that bat-wielding maniac was none other than Richie Incognito himself.
According to TMZ, police spoke to Incognito early Thursday morning and he admitted he was the one that took a bat and dented the bejeezus out of his car. No word on what set him off, but there’s nothing particularly promising or pleasant about his current or future state of affairs—so misdirected rage issues make sense.
When asked by FOX 10 Phoenix about the incident, Incognito said it “was just me venting, that was self expression, that’s a piece of art.â€
Um…yeah. Even as modern art goes, that’s just not very impressive.
