Warriors’ Stephen Curry Nursing Calf Injury Heading Into NBA Finals Rematch
The Golden State Warriors have been the hottest team in the NBA heading toward an NBA Finals rematch on Christmas Day against LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. Stephen Curry and company have been near unstoppable in their pursuit of a second straight NBA title and may be facing their toughest challenge on Friday in the form of the Eastern Conference heavyweights.
According to Sportsbook.ag, Curry’s Warriors are favored at home against the visiting Cavaliers with a -7 point spread.
Although the Warriors are favored by seven points to come out on top against the Cavaliers, Curry is currently nursing a calf injury headed into the highly anticipated NBA Finals rematch in the Bay Area. Despite the injury, Curry is expected to be on the floor for the Warriors on Christmas Day, according to Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN:
Stephen Curry is expected to play in the Christmas Day game against the Cleveland Cavaliers despite taking a knee to the right calf in Wednesday night’s victory over the Utah Jazz.
Coming into this showdown between arguably the two best team in the league, the Warriors are sporting the best record in the NBA. Golden State has won 27 of their 28 games played thus far. After a surprising loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, their first and only loss of the season, the Warriors have gotten back on track winning three straight before taking on the Cavaliers on Friday.
The Cavaliers have won six in a row heading into this matchup with the Warriors as the top team in the Eastern Conference at 19-7. Cleveland has been waiting for their opportunity to get another crack at the defending NBA champions with their squad healthy and back to form.
Unlike in the NBA Finals last summer, LeBron will have Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love playing alongside him against the Warriors. Although Golden State is the cream of the crop in the NBA right now, the Warriors are bound to be tested by a team that was able to take them to six games in the Finals. Taking the Cavaliers at +7 is the smart play here.
