Warriors’ Stephen Curry Set To Miss At Least Two Weeks
The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors headed into the playoffs with confidence and an incredible regular-season record that may stand the test of time. The Warriors had won an NBA-best 73 wins passing Michael Jordan’s 1996-97 Chicago Bulls by one game and were the overwhelming favorite to win it all for a second straight year.
Unfortunately, in Game 4 against the Houston Rockets in the first-round of the playoffs, reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry suffered a knee injury. Curry was already dealing with a sprained ankle that he had just returned from and then sprained his right knee on a wet spot on the floor.
According to Fox News, Curry was diagnosed with a sprained right MCL and will miss the next two weeks as a result:
Stephen Curry will miss at least two weeks for Golden State with a sprained ligament in his right knee, dealing a blow to the Warriors’ hopes of following a record-breaking season with a second straight championship.
Without Curry for the rest of this series, the Warriors will try to close out the Rockets on Tuesday back at Oracle Arena in Oakland. Golden State remains favored to come out on top against Houston tomorrow with a -9.5 point spread (via Sportsbook.ag).
Once Curry was ruled out the rest of Game 3 in Houston, the Warriors turned it up a notch with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green leading the way. Golden State proceeded to pull away and ultimately blew out James Harden and company by 27 points.
Curry’s injury makes things interesting moving forward with the Warriors having been the clear favorites to win the title heading into the playoffs. Odds will change once Curry returns and it can be determined whether he can continue to be the impact player he was before going down.
