The Washington Wizards suffered a devastating blow to their chances of advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals this week with All-Star point guard John Wall going down with an injury that may end his season. Wall has been incredible during the Wizards playoff run, but fractures in his left hand and wrist threaten his playing status moving forward.

According to a statement sent out by the Wizards, Wall has five fractures:

Wizards guard John Wall underwent multiple examinations yesterday that revealed five non-displaced fractures in his left wrist and hand.

Without Wall in Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks, the Wizards lost by 16 points and that may be a sign of things to come. The Kentucky product is the heart and soul of the Washington squad and arguably the main reason the franchise has gotten as far as they have in the playoffs thus far.

Although Wall’s status for the rest of the playoffs remains uncertain, Wizards head coach, Randy Wittman, made a bold statement about his starting point guard’s toughness saying the following, via Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post:

Here is the play in which Wall suffered the injury that could end his season, via ESPN:

The Hawks are currently the favorites to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals with -300 money line, according to Sportsbook.ag. The series is tied at 1-1, but without Wall in the lineup, it seems highly unlikely Washington will advance.

The winner of the series between the Wizards and Hawks will face the winner of the matchup of Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
