Zion Williamson: This Is Business Now

New Orleans has had to wait a long time, but Zion Williamson could be returning at just the right time.

Zion Williamson is in line to make his NBA debut at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

One of the most anticipated debutants in recent times, the Pelicans had their games selected for TV because of him. However, Zion Williamson suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during the preseason.

After his surgery on October 21, a 6 – 8 week recovery timeframe was mooted. The Pelicans, though, were cautious, and held him back another few weeks.

Williamson is coming back to full fitness at a pivotal time in the season for New Orleans. The Pelicans started the season poorly, going 6 – 22, but have won 11 of their last 16 games.

As a result, they are 3.5 games away from the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The chance to play the rest of the season with Zion in the team gives them a decent playoff shot.

“We did go through a bad stretch, but things have turned around,” Williamson said.

“Everybody’s been playing better. I’m just looking to go join in and have some fun.”

He speaks of fun, but the long wait to finally play in the NBA has been far from fun for him, as he outlines.

“There’s a lot of times when I wanted to punch a wall or kick chairs because it’s frustrating,” Williamson said.

“To not be able to move your body the way you want to, not to make any athletic movements; I mean, it’s tough. Especially because I’m 19 and I haven’t even played my first NBA game. It was tough but I battled through it.

“This is my first NBA game. This is business now.”
