LeBron James Would Vote For Himself For This Season’s NBA MVP

Only a handful of games remain in the 2014-15 NBA season with the playoffs rapidly approaching for the top 16 teams in the league. With the postseason only a few weeks away, the talk around the league has turned to playoff seeding and which player will win NBA MVP.

Most believe the MVP race is down to three or four players. One of those players potentially in contention for the regular-season award is superstar LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Recently, LeBron was asked about the MVP race and who he’d vote for. James didn’t hesitate to say he vote for himself, via Brian Windhorst of ESPN:

James said that players can’t vote for themselves for awards. But who would his vote be for MVP this year?

“Myself,” James said.

The other candidates expected to receiving votes for the MVP award include Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), James Harden (Houston Rockets) and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder). Curry is arguably the favorite to win the award, but it remains a close race with the regular season coming to an end.

With the Warriors currently being the cream of the crop in the NBA sporting a record of 63-15, Curry is making a strong case to earn MVP honors. LeBron has a shot considering the Cavaliers resurgence since his return, but Harden and Westbrook have been near unstoppable in the second half of the season.

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out, but it’d be safe to say the race could be down to Curry and Harden. Westbrook’s Thunder are currently on the outside looking in on the playoffs while LeBron’s impressive play this season has been overshadowed by Curry’s in the Bay Area.
