Mavericks signed P.J. Washington to a contract extension
The Dallas Mavericks have gone through a drastic transformation after trading superstar guard Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers before the NBA trade deadline earlier this year.
Along with moving on from Doncic in favor of Anthony Davis, the Mavericks have made adjustments here and there while also committing to some of their best role players, such as P.J. Washington.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Mavericks have inked Washington to a lucrative four-year deal.
Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington has agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the franchise, agent Kevin Bradbury of Lift Sports Management told ESPN. He had one season left on his deal for $14.1 million and now is ineligible to be traded during the 2025-26 season.
Washington has been one of the key contributors for the Mavericks ever since the team acquired him in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets last year.

He’ll likely continue to play a significant role for Dallas moving forward, with the team building around Davis, Kyrie Irving and rookie Cooper Flagg. Washington put up some decent numbers last season in his 50 appearances.
Washington was one of just eight players to average 1 steal and 1 block last season among individuals to play at least 50 games, according to ESPN Research, and he posted 14 double-doubles after having 10 combined over the previous three years. He will enter his seventh NBA season in October.
Only time will tell how things will pan out in Dallas in the post-Doncic era, but they could be a dark horse in a very deep and competitive Western Conference during the 2025-26 campaign.
