Steve Spurrier Is Keeping It Tight For All Y’all
This one is a few days old, but there’s nothing wrong with giving some attention to a vintage piece of machinery. Am I right, folks? I suspect you’d all be much more inclined to agree with me, assuming my vintage piece of machinery wasn’t South Carolina head coach South Carolina, Steve Spurrier.
It doesn’t really matter how good or not the Gamecocks are over the course of a given season. Obviously life is better for Mr. Steve Spurrier when times are good, as opposed to his team going an embarrassing 7-6, as they did in 2014. Anyone who has followed HBC’s career knows that his most exercised muscle is his acerbic tongue and ice cold sense of humor.
That being said, HBC has got more than enough reason to brag about his 70-year-old physique. The State’s Josh Kendall recently reported on Spurrier’s offseason training regimen, which he keeps in shape with workouts six days a week. And that’s during the football season! HBC’s offseason training is probably 10 hours a day, eight days a week.
Kendall gets into the specifics of HBC’s workout, juxtaposing the information with facts about American obesity. Though the entire column is a pretty entertaining read, there is one section that really boggles the mind. Mostly in that Spurrier does more at the age of 70 than most of y’all do at half his age. And don’t even try to lie.
“It makes me feel only slightly better that Spurrier figures he’s in better shape now than he was when he won the Heisman Trophy in 1966,†Kendall said. Added Spurrier, “I work out more for sure.â€
