D’Angelo Russell Compares Himself To Stephen Curry At Lakers Workout
The top 2015 NBA Draft prospects are starting to workout with the teams that may select them on draft day come June 25. One of those prospects is arguably the best guard in the upcoming draft in D’Angelo Russell out of Ohio State.
On Monday, Russell put his skills on display for the Los Angeles Lakers and didn’t disappoint the onlookers at the team’s practice facility in El Segundo, California. Following the workout viewed by the Lakers brass, Russell, like all draft prospects, fielded a number of questions from the media.
Russell talked about a number of different topics including who he tries to model his game after. The Ohio State product said Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is a player he has the most similarities with, according to Serena Winters of Lakers Nation:

With all signs pointing the Lakers selecting either Karl-Anthony Towns (Kentucky) or Jahlil Okafor (Duke) with the second overall pick, Russell landing in Los Angeles may be a stretch to say the least. Although it may be a slim chance the former Buckeye is drafted by the Lakers, there’s been some debate about whether Los Angeles would draft Okafor over Russell if Towns is off the board.
Regardless of his eventual landing spot, Russell has the potential to a special player in the NBA. The league is now guard-driven giving Russell a great opportunity to make an impact right away if in the right position.
The Philadelphia 76ers will likely be the team Russell ends up with. Philadelphia owns the third overall pick in the draft and could use a guard of his caliber to go along with Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid in the frontcourt.
