Bills Versus Browns: All Eyes Still On Manziel
While there is certainly plenty of quarterback drama going on with RGIII and the Washington Redskins, the media cannot get enough of Johnny Manziel. It is a good thing for the media that it is preseason and he should see plenty of playtime as the Browns’ backup in their game against the Buffalo Bills.
The Browns are the favorites against Buffalo with a -2 point spread.
Cleveland lost its last outing 20-17 against Washington last week. Josh McCown turned in an impressive 5-for-5 showing, though he only racked up 33 yards, though one of his throws was a touchdown. Manziel went 7-11 with 42 yards and a 12-yard touchdown run.
McCown is still the starter Mike Pettine says, though with every solid effort Manziel turns in the pressure gets put on the coaches and management to start the popular young quarterback once confidently called Johnny Football.
The Bills now under the guidance of Rex Ryan lost last week in a close one against the Carolina Panthers. The final score was 25-24 in favor of Carolina.
As a coach Ryan has a tendency to trend toward the OVER. The Bills game against Carolina went OVER the 37-point mark set. Ryan is 18-7 on the OVER during the preseason.
The Bills have their own quarterback controversy brewing. After Matt Cassel started last week, Tyrod Taylor is listed as the starter this week, after throwing 49 yards and rushing for 47 more against Carolina. EJ Manuel is still listed as Buffalo’s third string.
The showdown between Cleveland and Buffalo starts at around 8 p.m. ET.
