NFC East: No Favorite Amongst the Four Teams
The only thing clear about the NFC East is there is no clear favorite. Two teams have played three games and two will play their third on Sunday, but none of the four stand out as the team to beat.
On Thursday, the New York Giants defeated the Washington Redskins for their first win of the season. The victory was not pretty but all that matters is the Giants are now in the win column.
Here is a quick look at all four teams in the NFC East
The Dallas Cowboys are 2-0 going into their Sunday game against Atlanta. However, after losing Dez Bryant for 6 to 8 weeks in Week 1, the Cowboys lost Tony Romo for 8 weeks or more in Week 2. Brandon Weeden will be the starter at QB while Romo is sidelined. Terrance Williams a third year wide receiver must step his game up to help Dallas.
The offensive line is strong, but Dallas ranks No. 19 in rushing as they have not found anyone to fill the hole left by DeMarco Murray.
Dallas will get Rolando McClain and Greg Hardy back on defense, which should help. Dallas needs to just stay close until Romo returns
The Giants are 1-2 after their Thursday win. They lost two double-digit leads in their first two games during the fourth quarter to lose. Injuries have hurt the Giants as they were missing five of their starters in Thursday’s game.
When Victor Cruz, Dominique Rodger-Cromartie and Will Beatty return, it will help the cause tremendously.
The Washington Redskins are 1-2 and they could be a dark horse to win this division. However, new starting quarterback Kirk Cousins needs to become more productive for them to win on a regular basis.
Jay Gruden their head coach says not everything is about the quarterback. He called on his defense to create turnovers and his receivers need to play better. The running game was strong in Weeks 1 and 2, now Cousins must step up.
The Philadelphia Eagles were picked to win the division and still might, but right now, they are dead last at 0-2 headed into this week’s game.
The Eagles are not executing and that is why they are losing. There are new faces at quarterback and running back amongst others.
The Eagles have made a great deal of mistakes early this season.
However, head coach Chip Kelly put this team together piece by piece and he will have to find a way for it to work.
The Eagles traded away two guards that started last season on offense and now cannot run even with last season’s leading rusher in the league in Murray.
They miss their top wide out as well as Jeremy Maclin left during free agency.
The team can improve quickly with their talent, but must do so in a hurry before the season gets away from them.
